Anxiety and stress can come in many forms. Sometimes it is just a sense that you are not the person you used to be. Other times you can figure out what is bothering you but you feel uncertain how to deal with it. We tend to think that anxiety and depression only happen to us when something bad has happened such as death or divorce but in fact, anxiety and depression can happen to us during happy times as well - marriage, having a baby, graduating from school. It has more to do with life transitions, uncertainty and being overwhelmed rather than the actual life event. In fact sometimes it is those "happy" times that can trigger anxiety or depression because we are told or feel like we should be happy but that is not what we are feeling inside.
I want you to know that there is hope. I specialize in helping people figure out what is causing their sadness, panic or stress and together we develop a plan so that you can feel better.

The first goal in our work together will be to establish safety and trust. My goal in listening to your situation is to offer you a place where you can talk freely without being judged. We establish a pace that you are comfortable with and work towards setting goals that you want to meet. Understanding what may be causing your anxiety or stress is only important in figuring out how that might contribute or undermine your ability to meet your goals. Although we may spend some time understanding why this is happening to you, we will spend most of our time meeting your goals.
My style is warm, grounded and real. I work with adults and children in a respectful and compassionate way to meet each person's individual needs.

Many common everyday aspects of life can and frequently do illicit fear in us. Many common fears include the fear of bridges, snakes, spiders, dogs and public speaking. During treatment we will spend some time talking through what is bothering you in my office and if appropriate we will go to an actual setting that may be the basis of your fear. Whenever possible, the most successful anxiety treatments are when clients can gain confidence to face their fears in real life ways. Again, this would only happen at your own pace and in a safe manner.
